Midwestern Update - Chipper Hood Installation A Success!

After several years of site visits, engineering and preparation, Tricon’s Rich Fercy reports that our new chipper hood at Verso Paper in Quinnesec, MI is doing well. This project started years back and was recently approved for fabrication. The fabrication took place at Tricon’s Midwest Facility in Illinois. The scroll liner was designed with ¾” plate, thicker than an OEM replacement, and the sides from ½” plate. All material utilized in the project was Tricon Tri-Braze® Wear Plate. In addition, newer toggle clamps with lockable handles were also installed for easier maintenance access.
Working closely with Verso Paper, Tricon arranged for the chipper hood to be delivered for their annual spring outage. Tricon’s Field Service Engineer, Dan Morton, was on site at the mill on April 24th, 2007 to help ensure a successful installation. During the same shutdown, Tricon also supplied new Super-C® and Tri-Braze® floor plates and mild steel belly bands for Verso Paper’s Debarking Drum Infeed Chute, implementing modifications to ease installation and improve wear life. We continue to see additional work from this mill, a true testament to our consistent achievements there.
